About Us

Fresh from our flock.
Straight from our homestead.

At GreenHearth Eggs & Poultry, our eggs come from our own happy, characterful flock here at the homestead in Shropshire. We keep a variety of breeds, from Araucanas and Bresse to Black Copper Marans, Cream Legbars and rescued ex-battery hens — meaning our egg boxes can contain a brilliant mix of colours and sizes.

Our hens are more than just egg layers; they’re a big part of what started GreenHearth in the first place. We believe in giving them a good life, plenty of space to roam and the care they deserve, while providing our local customers with fresh, delicious eggs straight from our homestead.

And with every hen having her own personality, there’s always something going on around here!

Winter Shutdown 2026/27

Currently, our eggs are unavailable due to our winter shutdown.

The weather this year has taken more of a toll on their bodies than in previous years, so we made the decision to start our shutdown a month earlier than in previous years, starting 10/10/26.

We prioritise our hens' health and will resume in March. Subscribe to our mailing list to be kept up to date, with announcements expected this February on when you can place your orders!

The Sunday Scratch

What breeds of Chicken live on the Homestead?

We have two Araucanas at GreenHearth Homestead — Black Velvet and Arla. They lay the distinctive green eggs you’ll find in some of our egg boxes. Originally developed in Chile, Araucanas are an ancient South American breed traditionally associated with the Mapuche people and are famous for their blue or green-tinted eggs. A colourful addition to our flock!
